Power of Parenting promotes confidence and supports “Life as it should be” for children looked after (i.e. foster children or care leavers) whether that be by paying for membership of a local football club, providing a bike so they can get to school/college, helping them to pass their driving test, interview preparation, additional maths and English tuition to bursaries for university etc..
Power of Parenting is based in Ascot and support foster children in RBWM, Bracknell and Wokingham. This year POP has supported over 100 post-16 young people with their studies and job opportunities. From equipment, travel cards, or support to live away from home, POP support has directly contributed to young people securing their first jobs, building confidence, developing new skills, and improving their wellbeing.
POP funding is proving to be a vital tool in removing financial barriers and empowering care leavers to take meaningful steps toward independence and long-term employment.
They are a very small charity that affects a huge number of lives locally. Last year they were nominated for the Kings Award for volunteering. They rely on fundraising and donations to do the work they do. https://powerofparenting.co.uk
Our RRPC main event for raising our contribution to the Charity will be our Quiz Night which will be held on Friday 6th November at Windlesham Club & Theatre. Please put the date in your diary.
We will also be doing a food collection for The Hope Hub which we have supported for several years now. For those members who do not already know about The Hope Hub, it is a registered charity based in Camberley and is dedicated to preventing and ending homelessness in Surrey Heath and surrounding areas. They give well-being support, food parcels, drop-in services, help and support for applications for housing, benefits, finding work and debt management.
